Finances
We’re committed to being good stewards of your resources
Below, we’ve grouped the costs of participation in Cub Scouts into: (1) amounts paid to the local/national organization, (2) amounts raised for (or paid to) Pack 390 specifically; and (3) amounts you may elect to spend on your child. The amounts below are per child.
#1 - Amounts paid to Local/National Organization
$97
This is paid to Scouting America when registering your child online. This amount covers Membership ($85) and Insurance ($12). Optionally, you can purchase a subscription to Scout Life ($15) when registering.
#2 - Amounts raised for (or paid to) Pack 390
$200 returning / $100 new
This is paid* directly to Pack 390 and covers: re-charter fees, registration and insurance for volunteer leaders, local Pack events, this website, Spring campout, materials used by each Den during Adventures, pinewood derby kits, rain gutter regatta kits, belt loop awards, neckerchiefs and slides, and a Pack 390 ‘Class B’ t-shirt.
*The vast majority of Pack 390 families do not pay this amount and instead raise money via participation in our annual Popcorn Fundraiser.
#3 - Amounts spent on your child
$ variable
Uniforms. Cubs are encouraged to wear the Cub Scout uniform (shirt, pants, belt, hat) to events to demonstrate being part of a team and individual achievement.
Note: Pack 390 will provide the t-shirt and hat for the Lion Den (Kindergarten). Parents may want to purchase pants/belt for their Lions to showcase their Adventure belt loop awards.
Den Handbook. Not required for advancement but some Cubs enjoy tracking their own Adventure progress.
Major events. Costs for the more expensive events are only charged to families that elect to participate (e.g. Fall camp trip at Cub Haunted, Winter tobogganing, Lake Erie Monsters game).
Assistance
If you’re concerned about your ability to pay the amounts listed above, please reach out to the Committee Chair or Treasurer. We’re happy to work with you to find alternatives ways to contribute, such as Pack 390’s uniform exchange or adjustments to popcorn quotas.
